Dr. Jens Jungblut joins as EJHE Book Reviews Editor

I am happy to announce that European Journal of Higher Education has a new Book Reviews Editor. From 1st January 2017, Dr. Jens Jungblut will be responsible for editing the EJHE Book Reviews section. Dr. Jens Jungblut is a post-doctoral researcher and the coordinator of the thematic area “governance and organization” at the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER) at the University of Kassel in Germany. Prior to his work in Kassel Jens worked as a PhD research fellow at the Department of Education at the University of Oslo, where he also wrote his PhD dissertation entitled “Party Politics in Higher Education Policy. Partisan Preferences, Coalition Positions, and Higher education Policy in Western Europe”. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Peter Maassen and Prof. Åse Gornitzka. During his time in Oslo, Jens was also a member of the National Graduate School in Educational Research (NATED), and he had research visits to both Nuffield College at the University of Oxford as well as the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz. Jens holds a MA in Political Science from the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz.

Jens’ research focuses on higher education policy and governance, the role of political parties for higher education policy, higher education in Sub-Saharan Africa, student unions, and organizational change of higher education institutions. He published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals, both in the areas of Higher Education Studies and Political Science. Additionally, Jens also worked as a reviewer for several journals, including, for example, the European Journal of Higher Education, Governance or Social Policy and Administration. Jens is also a member of the steering committee of the Standing Group on “Politics of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation” at the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and a member of the Magna Charta Observatory Council in Bologna.
